Small-scale tool – large-scale impact
Pedestals are circular synthetic discs consisting of a base, threaded section (for height-adjustable pedestals) and upper section as well as a cross-shaped spacer. They are used to install floor coverings or deckings made from a wide range of different materials. Therefore pedestals are eminently suitable for use as variable substructures underpinning terraces, flat roofs, balconies, parking levels, public spaces, fountains and temporary surfaces. Since slabs/flagstones are only held in place by the pedestals but are not grouted, surface water can drain off into the hollow space beneath the flooring and be channeled away by making use of the ground gradient. Frequent problems, such as cracks, leakage and flooring sag caused by environmental impact, which occur when using conventional installation methods, are avoided when loose-laying on slab supports.
