German Federal Parliament, Reichstag Building Terrace & Atriums, Berlin

The Reichstag with its spectacular dome and adjoining roof-top visitor terrace with roof-garden restaurant and café is a visitor magnet that provides a magnificent view over the city, particularly the nearby River Spree, the Brandenburg Gate and the high-rise buildings on Potsdamer Platz.

The terrace areas were redesigned as part of refurbishment work carried out in 2009. More than 10,000 height-adjustable (50-180 mm) pedestals were installed here beneath the concrete slabs.

During the redevelopment of the atriums in the
Reichstag Building the existing concrete slabs were
re-laid. Here the client opted to have the slabs laid
on more than 5500 height-adjustable (50-250 mm)
pedestals.

Penthouse Terrace, Regensburg, Bavaria


Le Quartier, Wirth-Alley, Landau

The project "Le Quartier No. 1" contains of two parts. The first one called "Le Jardin", is an arrangement of six modern and classy cubes with distinct lines und broad terrace- and loggia areas. The second part is "La Maison No. 14", a historic building off Wilhelminian time. During the realisation of terraces, balconies or loggias der Terrassen und Balkone hight adjustable pedestals have been 

used to adjust heights between 30 to 150 mm. The used pedestal type PLV50/75 was combined with the fitting adapter ZSt65/100, and other pedestals of the PlattePlatte-series additional to in 1 und 3 mm shim washers. Over 6000 pedestals have been layed under tiles (format 40x40 cm) during this building period.

Rooftop Terrace, Ceramic tiles, Pforzheim

New-arrangement of a rooftop terrace with cearmic tiles in wood-optic (rormat 60x60x2).

Used hight adjustalbe pedestal: PLV50/75 (50-75 mm)


Timber decking, private house

Timber decking on top of hight adjustable pedestals. The squared timer was layed diagonal between the tile spacers for an additional fixation.

To adjusts hights up to 185 mm have been combined the hight adjustable pedestal PLV50/75 in combination with the fitting ZSt65/100 an the PP155/15.


Private Home, Keltern

Height-adjustable pedestal PLV50/75 combined with rigid pedestal PP155/15 and shim washers in 1 and 3 mm. 


NS-Dokumentatioszentrum, Königsplatz, Munich

The NS-Documentation Center at Brienner Str., Königsplatz in Munich is a monument and reminder for the NS-history of Munich. 

During construction of different terrace areas more than 3700 height-adjustable pedestals have been placed under tiles. To adjust heights from 25-450 mm have been combined height-adjustable pedestals PLV50/75 and ZSt65/100 with the rigid pestals and shim washers of the product line PlattenPlatte.

Private Home, Dannendorf

Upon completion of a private terrace in the Danndorf area, granite tiles were laid in 3 cm thickness and three size variants (40x40 cm, 40x60 cm and 40x80 cm). The substructure was about 400 panel bearings of type

PP155/45 (45 mm height) used. A special feature of this terrace are the rounded corners with many smaler tile parts. 

 


West-Ment Appartment House, Frankfurt a.M.

During the development of the "West-Ment" Penthouse in Frankfurt the concrete slabs (40x60 cm) were laid on more than 800 height-adjustable (100-170 mm)
pedestals.

Westdeutsches Tumor-Zentrum (WTZ) In-Patient Building, University Clinic Essen

The University Clinic Duisburg-Essen has been enhanced by the addition of a new and important building - the in-patient wing of the Westdeutsches Tumor Zentrum. Located close
to the Radiotherapy and Tumour Clinic and to the West-
deutsches Tumor Zentrum's out-patient building, this is a state-of-the-art clinic, which guarantees the best possible
in-patient treatment for oncology patients.

As part of the layout of the terrace in the outdoor quiet zone the client opted for terracing slabs and grating loose-laid
on decking supports/pedestals, since this solution allows for
a seamless transition from stone to metal. For this project a total of 1100 height-adjustable (135 to 170 mm) pedestals were installed.


Ronald McDonald Haus, Tübingen

The Ronald McDonald Haus, designed by star architect Hadi Teherani, is one of 17 McDonald´s Kinderhilfe facilities in Germany. It is after Berlin the second largest in Germany and the first one of its kind in Baden-Württemberg. Following a construction period of 17 months, the Ronald McDonald Haus was opened in autumn 2011 in the grounds of the University Clinic Tübingen on the 'Scharrenberg'.

The outdoor terrace has been designed to allow children and their parents to play and be together. The creation of a safe, no-barrier foundation was therefore our top priority. The terrace was laid by installing some 2800 height-adjustable (100 to 155 mm) pedestals beneath terracing slabs.


Bestattungforum, Hamburg Ohlsdorf

Ohldorf Cemetery is the world’s largest parkland cemetery and therefore has an internationalreputation. The ‘Bestattungsforum’ (Funeral Forum), designed by Hamburg architect Fritz Schumacher, and the refurbished crematorium blend in harmoniously into the overall picture.

The incorporation of terracing slabs on pedestals into
the overall concept was completed withouthitch during a construction phase lasting a total of 18 months. To lay
the terrace, heightadjustable (100 to 450 mm) pedestals
were installed beneath terracing slabs.


Swiss Re, Office Building, Water Features, Munich

Swiss Re (formerly Bayerische Rück) invited ten firms of architects to tender to design a new administrative building. The focal point of the building complex is a central inner courtyard, which can be accessed from all sides and features a geometric waterscape.

To lay the stone slabs in the waterscape the client opted for euro-system Couwenbergs’ weatherresistant polyethylene pedestals. A total of 6000 height-adjustable (30 to 60 mm) pedestals were installed.


Private terrace, Gummersbach

Private Terrace with ceramic tiles (format 50x50) height-adjusted with rigid pedestals PP155/15 and PP155/45 combined with the flexible PLV50/75.

Small tile pieces have been adjusted with die PP-tile supporters PP155/15 and PP155/45 in addition to shim washers in 1 and 3 mm.

Upper Eastside, Residential and Commercial Building Complex, Berlin

The residential and commercial building complex, Upper Eastside Berlin, is located at the junction of Friedrichstraße and Unter den Linden. The total of five buildings has been amalgamated to form a future-focused living and working complex, whilst preserving the old character of the locality.

Around 4000 height-adjustable (50-180 mm) pedestals were installed beneath the terracing slabs to fit out the many terraces.


Max-Planck-Institute (MPI), Roof Terrace, Tübingen

The main building of the Max Planck Institute for Develop-
mental Biology, completed in 2005, was designed by the Munich-based architects, Fritsch & Tschaidse. The building features a glass roof and south-facing window frontage.

The spacious open-plan design is reflected in the extensive roof terrace. Here height-adjustable (145 to 185 mm) pedestals were installed beneath timber decking.


Culture and Congress Centre (NDK), Fountains, Sofia

The National Palace of Culture is a concert and congress centre in the heart of Sofia. The surrounding park is a
9000m2 outdoor space designed and actioned by the engineer, Valentina Atanassova.

The focal point of the park is a series of fountains in an area covering 7000 m2. Around 30,000 pedestals were used to lay the fountain floor slabs.


Deutsche Bundesbank, Roof Terrace, Berlin

The headquarters and Berlin branch of the Deutsche Bundes-
bank is a listed building complex. Extensive refurbishment work, which took many years, was completed in 2007.

As part of this refurbishment 100 x 100 cm flagstones were laid on an all-surround terrace measuring over 450 m2.
This challenge was met using our height-adjustable (350 to 460 mm) pedestals.


Mills United, Roof Terrace, Recklinghausen

Mills United was established in Recklinghausen in 2000 as a result of a merger between the family businesses, Hovestadt & Münstermann and Mühle Stenzel. The new building at
the modern site was completed in 2007/2008.

A roof terrace covering an area of more than 500 m2 was added – flagstones supported by height adjustable (135 to
170 mm) pedestals.


EnBW City, Roof Terrace, Stuttgart Fasanenhof

After a two-year construction period the utility EnBW was able to relocate to the modern building complex in the Fasanenhof industrial park in 2008/2009 from 20 sites spread across the city.

The modern roof terrace features a combination of timber and stone on height-adjustable (135 to170 mm) pedestals manufactured by euro-system Couwenbergs.


EUROGATE, Roof Terrace, Port of Hamburg

Europe’s leading, non-shipping-company-owned container terminal group, EUROGATE, completed the refurbishment project on its operations building in 2009, following a 3-year construction period.

A 650 m2 roof terrace was added as part of this refurbish-
ment. Flagstones were laid on approximately 3200 height-adjustable (20 to 160 mm) decking supports /pedestals.


GIG – Hohenzollernring, Apartment Building Terracing, Münster

This apartment building with 5 apartments in Münster is conveniently located for the Old Town and its esplanade. The top floor houses a 109 m2 apartment with an impressive roof terrace.

Around 1500 height-adjustable (60 to 160 mm) decking supports/pedestals were installed to support the flagstones that the client had opted for.


Civic Centre, Terraces, Reutlingen

Reutlingen Civic Centre is the hub of a multifunctional event location in the grounds of the Bruderhaus organisation. The client wanted the extensive roof terrace to feature flagstones in a walkway configuration.

This project was actioned by installing around 8900 height-adjustable (50 to 250 mm) decking supports/pedestals in an area of more than 1270 m2.


Private Home, Terrace, Bad Herrenalb

This modern private home dovetails with the wonderful surroundings of Bad Herrenalb. The clients wanted their balcony in a combination of glass and anthracite-coloured

terrazzo slabs on height-adjustable (95 to 120 mm) pedestals.

Square flagstones were laid in a grid pattern on the terrace of a private home to make its exterior look coherent and more attractive.

The terrace substructure consists of PLV50/75 height-adjustable (50 to 75 mm) decking supports.


Beluga Shipping, Commercial Building, Roof-Terrace Restaurant, Bremen

Surrounded on two sides by water, this building features different levels, a distinctive design and plenty of glass
and towers like a huge ship and her superstructure out of
the water. The "Outer Roads", a gastronomic triumvirate consisting of a restaurant, bar and "Pazifikdeck" outdoor
sun terrace, are located on the upper decks, i.e. on the fifth, sixth and seventh floors. All the terracing is supported by height-adjustable pedestals manufactured by euro-system Couwenbergs oHG, Karlsruhe (extract from an article in RA Journal 4/2013). A total of more than 1200 height-adjustable (approx. 50-200 mm) pedestals were installed as part of this project.
